Syntax

Trade you an ‘n’
for a ‘v’, I said
to the moon
to the sun
to the bird
at my window

All obliged
and now
my lonely day
is lovely,
lovely,
lovely.

(Tuesdays, I borrow from Twitter @Vjknutson
Art my own.)

Permission to write, paint, and imagine are the gifts I gave myself when chronic illness hit - a fair exchange: being for doing. Relevance is an attitude. Humour essential.

  1. This brought a smile to my face. I’ll trade your ‘l’ for an ‘a’; alone, but not lone-ly. The moon and the sun and the birds have been my companions on many days and I welcomed them. Yes, all it takes is making a slight change to one’s inner dialogue. Cute painting, V.J.

  2. As with others, that subtle shift made all the difference. If you don’t mind, I would like to use this in a birthday card I will send out tomorrow. I will cite you as the author, of course. It just seems like what my friend needs right now, living alone and isolated.
