Disillusioned

How did this chasm,
this canyon of lies
become our normal?

Facts, once the sword
of intellect, redundant –
we fight with hyperbole

Voices raised, egos puffed –
I long for calm, doubt
we have the wherewithal
to bridge the divide.

Permission to write, paint, and imagine are the gifts I gave myself when chronic illness hit - a fair exchange: being for doing. Relevance is an attitude. Humour essential.

  1. Recognition of our somewhat-self-inflicted wounds is the first step toward collective healing. Patience is essential as each of us is ahead of some, behind others in coming to recognition: collectively, we are our enemy and our only hope for survival. [I wonder how much of this will show up 50 years from now in high school history classes?!]
