Viral Madness

Children moan
reflect the day’s gloom

We are virus-cautious
confined indoors

While ‘I-wannas’
buzz at windowpanes

and news feeds mount
the terror – I scream

silently, pray for
uncommon patience

Pause as eagle,
soaring overhead

tips a wing my way
bids me a good day.

Permission to write, paint, and imagine are the gifts I gave myself when chronic illness hit - a fair exchange: being for doing. Relevance is an attitude. Humour essential.

      1. I’ve been reading a bit about the former Soviet Union, but also about our “true” historical past, and I think, to some degree, people have always been programmable, but with technology, we’re aware of it more. However, I do talk with people who think for themselves, and that’s refreshing. I think the media does a fantastic Marxist job of painting a picture their way, but what really goes on in people’s real life is not a Hollywood version. We all need to unplug from the propaganda, from media persuasion, think for ourselves, and let each day happen as it happens, in real time.

  1. Lovely short couplets, VJ. I enjoy the imagery you present here, especially:
    “silently, pray for
    uncommon patience”
Gorgeous image too! Did you draw that? I love the marks and the hue, just exquisite ❤

  2. Screaming for patience – pretty well captures the scene we’re all in (NONE by choice!) – I scream at myself for screaming at those who seem to make matters worse. Between the inner mostly-silent spasms I glimpse humanity caught in transition … wondering where this will take us collectively … curiosity a sort of tranquilizer …
