Life’s mountain
a rough climb
body fails to adjust
focused as we are
on destination
Sights a sepia blur
here approaching summit
scree presents new danger
I vote we pause awhile
appreciate our labour
breathe in colour for once.

I love your vivid artwork and words as well. (Funny, at first I wrote I love your artword.)
I once had a friend who wore exclusively one color for a year. Orange was year two. Decades later, she’s still known as Green Sarah in honor of the first year of color.
My grandmother used to say that nature has more shades of green than humans can absorb.

Love “artword”! Colour is such a wonderful balm. I’m with your grandmother – have dreamt of painting with nothing but shades of green.

Lovely art – both poem and painting. Yes, friend, we are wise to pause from time to time during life’s journey.

Intriguing poem … applying to life cycle, scree as ailment after ailment to “get over, around” … applying to current collective awareness, scree as the abundance of misinformation to “stumble through toward truth” … applying to current pandemic, scree as “evolving protocols to “adapt and work around” …
WOW, VJ … your image is gorgeous to boot! (no pun intended)

You got it Jazz! I’ve been doing more intuitive art – interesting where that leads.

I’m with you on that pause! This image reminds me a little of Ted Harrison’s work.

Yes! I often feel that my colours are too unsophisticated, especially when I compare to classic artistry. I love to see that others are not afraid to assert such vibrancy.

Ted Harrison is your man! He does not shy away from vibrancy. Another artist that may appeal to you is David Brooke. Sometimes your images remind me of his style. https://www.pinterest.co.uk/davidfbrooke/david-brooke-paintings/

He shows must more confidence in his work. Thanks Heather. I was never allowed to study art (had to have a serious career, you know), so it’s all discovery at this point.

Thanks Michele. Interestingly it was a dark time when the painting emerged. The soul knows what we need, I guess.

You have my vote to pause awhile and breathe in color, for once. I particularly like the scree metaphor. (I had to look up the meaning. I’m happy to learn new word!)
