There is no promise
life passes, sometimes trickles
we survive or thrive
love as glue, spirit reigning
heart open – sacred witness.

The opening line really sets the stage for all the rest. You’re so right. There is no promise in life–just a hope. And although hope is a cheap thing … it’s a great thing!

“Love as glue” is brilliant and so apt. How would life hold together without it? Gorgeous work.

What a beautiful reminder to stay open in our heart space, to witness love and choose love. Love is the glue, the foundation that lies within us all meant to spread, rejoiced and celebrated! Thank you for sharing your words and picture 🙂

And I resonate with love as glue – especially the giving of love, spreading it to others.

This is a beautiful poem V. J. It brings a calm feeling to me as I read it over several times.
I like the words “heart open- sacred witness.”
(sacred witness is much nicer in this poem than the words my brain first read as “scared witless”….that has a whole different feel…)

Hahaha – I’m trying to balance out the scared witless, Betty. In this time of so much uncertainty and helplessness, we can still remain witness to all that is glorious.

I like ‘sacred witness’. Some people are incapable of desecrating; they just purify whatever they touch – including hearts.

“sacred witness” 💞
It does often seem that “no promise” is the promise.
Beautiful lines.

I love this poem. Simple yet deep. Sometimes in life we feel we need to be doing, hurrying, fixing, but really we need to listen, reflect and love.
