Failures, like eel grass
lurk in slumber’s waters
entangle me in regret
I’m drowning in should’s
and what if’s, until gasping
I awake with a start
The light of consciousness
releases me from emotional bog
illuminates the rational
I am restored, set upon the shores
of revelation, ready to step
forward with forgiveness.

Stepping forward with forgiveness is something we have to do for oyr own peace. Beautiful sentiments here.

If only stepping forward with forgiveness was something we could all learn to do! Very nice!

Second stanza hit me hard. I feel like that’s life. It’s best to learn to swim in invisible waters, but the hardest thing to do.

I think we all go through it, and hopefully get smarter…at some point, lol.

Yeah, that’s the key. Getting smarter as we go through it.

Why do we allow ourselves to get into that emotional bog? It always seems we drag ourselves through those should’s and what ifs again and again. Your poem beautifully expresses the cycle. Is the image a painting?

So true, thanks Heather. The image is a photograph that I have ‘picturated’ as Ric calls it.

That’s why I asked, I often can’t tell the difference. Beautiful either way!

That’s the best compliment ever, Heather! The photo-art is always more polished. My attempts at art are more fourth grade, lol.
