Unity seems an apt response
Yet we pillow fight, toss
sinewy threads of notions…
Is righteousness really
more important than peace?

Absolutely not in my view, but even peace at all costs would be a problem too. In the end, what is we are all about? Letting go of ego is my response. I must say the farm fence – ringlock – was a sentimental moment for me, took me back to my farm days.

Letting go of ego is what I have strived for too, Paul, but even that doesn’t really ring true, you know? We need some sense of defining self. Self-less living I suppose would be good.

Agreed, I like that self-less.

Seems many people feel righteousness is more important than peace. That’s unfortunate.

Some, I think, forget that it is a choice.

Righteousness is easier to hide behind. And avoid the hard work of peace. Much to think about here.

Yes. The issue is complex. Loving the input on this one. Thanks.

You’re welcome. (wouldn’t a discussion group be fascinating on topics such as this?)

It would! Our group would have lots to talk about, I’m sure.

You are very brave for venturing into Twitter. Fine poem, too.

Thanks Susanne. I agree about Twitter. I signed on 8 years ago, and quit twice, but finally found a supportive writing group that I love.

Now that is encouraging news about Twitter. I’d love to hear more about how you found these folks and how you support each other.

Look for the hashtag #WritingCommunity. There are prompts that you can participate in. I usually do #vss365 #vsspoem and #BraveWrite.

What is right? Fairness and justice are sometimes only achieved by standing up to complacency and ignorance. One person’s peace can be another’s suffocation. We all seek calm and peace, but not at at the cost of distress and disturbance of others.

Some years ago I wrote in a poem I had given up the need to be right! Yeah, sure I did. Not so easy…….

So good:
“Yet we pillow fight, toss

And peace is most important. Now if we can only get there while being somewhat righteous.

Lol. Hard to let that one go isn’t it! Thanks.
