Quarantined Thoughts

Oh, the plans I make –
swept up in sudden quietude –
art, writing, books to read –
creativity leaps with excitement

And yet, there is a somber tone
ringing in my head – an anxious
whirring – reframing solitude
as social aberration…

And in this dance of light and dark
how shall I weave the threads
braid together a semblance of order
find a balance I can live with?

Permission to write, paint, and imagine are the gifts I gave myself when chronic illness hit - a fair exchange: being for doing. Relevance is an attitude. Humour essential.

  2. This poem puts into such perfect words where my head is at… “an anxious whirring”: exactly. Ending with a question for which there is no answer yet. Each of us will be searching for who knows how long and each answer will be different. But it is a comfort to know we are not alone in the search.
