Spiritual Tugging

My house is in order!
I shout to a cosmos
intent on ignoring my pleas

chthonic forces insist
on invading dreams
psychic locks ineffectual

no barriers to protect
when soul mocks
purported equilibrium

Order, spirit answers,
is a temporal concept;
continue to grow.

(For Ragtag Community’s prompt: temporal.  Image from personal collection.)

  1. Chthonic forces huh? I don’t know if you meant this to be funny but its the best thing I read all day, even better that the NY Post. Have you consider wearing a garlic necklace to keep the spirits at bay? Note: garlic won’t work with Italian spirits. 😡

  2. I absolutely love the conclusion of this poem. What a great observation. Also, thanks for the new word. I had never seen ‘chthonic’ before. I love learning new words. I think this one must take the prize for most initial consonants in a row!
