Full sun,
river dons an icy blue,
white banks blind,
light hits water –
bedazzled burst –
I seek an angle.
Banditry of chickadees
noisily arrives
dance their joyous jig –
too slow my lens
Movement on a bare bark
draws my focus,
a brown creeper –
I am lucky this time
delightful noonday capture.
I’m in Southern California and we had one of these birds, a true visitor, last month. the photo I took was on the bark of our oak tree, very similar to your photo! I was sure he was just passing through and I’d never seen one before. Maybe this was my little guy?

Now when I see my favorite little chickadees outside my window, I’ll think of your poem via the “banditry of chickadees”!

I love the poem and the photo! The bird blends in so well with the bark of the tree it might be hard to spot if you weren’t looking for it. Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

The bird almost blends in with the tree. Poem imagery captures the mood too…banditry of chickadees…brown creeper. Like the one that got left behind!

It’s so camouflaged. No wonder I hadn’t seen one before. Thanks so much.
