It’s Time, Women

It’s time to resurrect
our confidence,
recapture the sensitivity
of intuitive knowing,
acknowledge the power
of our resiliency;
we are women
merciful companions
healers attending
Divinity’s passage,
peace-seekers
directing life’s journey.

Too long have we equated
self-esteem with
patriarchal agendas,
disappointed with
our inability to meet
media standards,
blamed ourselves
for divorce,
disease,
staying home
to raise the children.

It’s time to honour
our strength, restore
feminine worth,
align our resources,
we are iron grace,
mindful caregivers,
mate with intention,
our vulnerability,
our sensuality,
aspects of intrinsic
wisdom, we are
keepers of the dream
beings steeped
in mystery:
it is time.

Permission to write, paint, and imagine are the gifts I gave myself when chronic illness hit - a fair exchange: being for doing. Relevance is an attitude. Humour essential.

  1. I watched a wonderful doc on netflix the other day called Feminists, amazing how bad things were, how far they got, and the walls yet to be scaled in many contexts, can’t believe all the liberation agendas went backwards.

  2. Hi! This was so refreshing and interesting and overall just love the content! After reading such powerful writing, I was wondering if you could checkout my new piece on living in a hierarchical patriarchal structure where slut shaming still exists. And I would really appreciate it if you could comment some feedback to improve the writing style. Looking forward to hearing from you. – Kiran

  3. I think younger women (younger than me by at least a couple of decades) seem to really believe this. And for that I’m thrilled and hopeful. For me and those of my generation, it’s not too late! We need to repeat the words you’ve shared here each and every day and grow into feeling them! Love this, V.J.

      1. Oh, wow, thank you for your kind compliment, I’ll have delusions of grandeur in my dreams tonight… I’ve put the words in my computer notebook, I actually wrote them for your article/post today…. maybe they’ll go in one of my poems… 🤔😊🤗

    1. Thanks, Jazz. I just finished listening to the podcast on the Epstein case, and it is so disheartening that women are so undervalued. Glad to hear NG has made women their focus. I’ll have to look for it.
