Vultures come
sharpen talons and beaks
tear at necrotic flesh
pick this carcass clean
I need a committee
to rid me of parasitic past
trauma’s cadaver
weighing me down.

What a brilliant piece. We don’t often think of wanting to the vultures to come and make us something new. Dark but lovely!

Parasitic Past! Whoa. That jumps right out. Sums up so much in 2 words.

Thanks – the past can be such a pest.

Pick clean of the past, needs a committee or a commonwealth as Leonard Cohen means it in his “Villanelle For Our Time”

Thanks Liz. The term ‘committee’ in all its meaning suited here, I thought.

The poem turns on that committee.
