Grandma To The Rescue

September is
chilly mornings
and classroom routines,
cardigans dragged home,
and the onset of colds.

Grandma packs her bag
with activities to distract,
a soup to boost bodies
and an apple crisp
fresh from the oven.

Some days
the best education
comes snuggled under
warm blankets with
inter-generational love.

(For Ragtag Communty’s daily prompt: crisp.  Grandma duty calls, be back later!)

Permission to write, paint, and imagine are the gifts I gave myself when chronic illness hit - a fair exchange: being for doing. Relevance is an attitude. Humour essential.

  1. Awww…. I love this one V.J.! This brings back memories of spending time with my Grandma when I was little. There wasn’t any one big thing that made those times special; it was all the little things that meant so much. You’re making memories with those sweet grand babies that will linger throughout their lives.

  2. Aww such a touching piece, it’s so warm and comforting. It made me wish I was able to spend time with my grandma when I was little, I always missed that intergenerational aspect and extended family part ♥
