Oh, Seasons

Late August nights cool
burnt dry hues
will soon transform –
symphony of colour

There is sorrow
in Summer’s end;
Autumn’s icy breath
Winter’s warning.

Permission to write, paint, and imagine are the gifts I gave myself when chronic illness hit - a fair exchange: being for doing. Relevance is an attitude. Humour essential.

  1. Here in Southern California we have another month or two of summer–at least in temperatures! But I look for the subtle changes and I’m ready! You painted a beautiful description with your words and I could for a moment feel the “icy breath.” Lovely, V.J.

  2. There is always some sorrow as the seasons shift, summer to fall. I don’t love fall on the prairies, but I always loved autumn in Ontario. The colours are outstanding and the air…brisk, fresh!

  3. The leaves are starting to turn color here also, but slowly. Yellows first. A touch here and there. The ‘symphony of color’ is yet to come. 🙂 My favorite time of year. Going out today for an adventure. Maybe my camera might catch something interesting. Hope you have a peaceful long week-end, V. J.
