Late August nights cool
burnt dry hues
will soon transform –
symphony of colour
There is sorrow
in Summer’s end;
Autumn’s icy breath
Winter’s warning.

Here in Southern California we have another month or two of summer–at least in temperatures! But I look for the subtle changes and I’m ready! You painted a beautiful description with your words and I could for a moment feel the “icy breath.” Lovely, V.J.

Thanks Debra. You are in a beautiful part of the world – a place we go when the “icy breath” becomes our norm, lol.

Lovely piece! We have hints of fall here with a few leaves starting to turn and the nights are cooler.

The cooler air is a shock, isn’t it? Although good for sleeping Thanks Eugenia.

There is always some sorrow as the seasons shift, summer to fall. I don’t love fall on the prairies, but I always loved autumn in Ontario. The colours are outstanding and the air…brisk, fresh!

Our falls can be beautiful, it’s true. Just not keen on winter.

Winter’s Warning – I love that line. Great poem. Fall will always be my favorite because I’m like Goldilocks and need my temperatures to be “just right” 😛 Oh yeah and my birthday is in the fall, sooo there’s that.

Lol. Yes, my kids like fall for the same reason. I don’t mind it, but detest the reminder of what is to follow.

I hear you on that one. Winter is not my friend. I wish Canada secured Western America rather than just the North. I want to move South!

For sure! We have spent the last two winters south, but this year health is keeping us home. I will need lots of encouragement.

I’ll do my best to keep you in my thoughts. Hopefully you manage to stay warm anyways. Best wishes ❤

The leaves are starting to turn color here also, but slowly. Yellows first. A touch here and there. The ‘symphony of color’ is yet to come. 🙂 My favorite time of year. Going out today for an adventure. Maybe my camera might catch something interesting. Hope you have a peaceful long week-end, V. J.
