Tyrannical, my father’s reign; the ensuing understanding of relationship dynamics twisted. Violence and threats peppered with “I love you”, as if one was synonymous with the other. I cowered with the rest, shame a heavy weight.
Oppression dictates
warped sense of love, intimate
nightmare – relearning.
(For Reena’s Exploration challenge #89. Relationships have been the theme of my dreams lately – thus the reversal to childhood.)
I winder that we had the same father, mine would fit that poetic memory.

Just seen I’ve missed a lot of your posts!
This resonated for me:
“ I cowered with the rest, shame a heavy weight.” Indeed. Shame is a relentless burden.

I feel for you. The best way for me was to leave the person and make peace with the past. Then there is no more power that influences me.

Thank you. Sometimes the lessons learned (however warped) are internalized. I fight the good fight.

Excellent! This alternating theme carries across in many relationships – as if there is an effort to compensate. But the negative behavior recurs after that.

Relationships can be so very complicated. Takes a life time to work some out.
