Such a gift is youth –
silvers stars and bows,
jingle-jangle wishes…
Seldom opened –
shame and insecurity
casting doubt, despair
Shall we try again,
age and wisdom
steeped in appreciation.

Yes, let’s try again, love that line, a poem that speaks so clearly of life lived and the realities therein.

It is ironic, isn’t it? That we don’t always appreciate our youth when we are young. Your thoughts ring true!

Love the title, V. J. There definitely is no expiry date to finding serenity at any age, but getting out of the turmoil of striving for more in youth, aging does add a new perspective. Sometimes less is better. Acceptance and appreciation are the key. Nicely written. 🙂

Thanks Olga – a wisdom we gain but cannot be told when younger.

Love the phrase steeped in appreciation, V.J. That is a gift I have been given in my 60s that I sure didn’t have in my teens and 20s. Wonderful poem.
