Fleeting

Oh Spring
budding promise
innocence of green
awakening hope, beginnings;
hurried
the impulse to respond, before
scorching heat burns efforts
melts ambition –
Summer.

Permission to write, paint, and imagine are the gifts I gave myself when chronic illness hit - a fair exchange: being for doing. Relevance is an attitude. Humour essential.

  1. Hurried… That’s it in a nutshell, isn’t it? I went out of town for only five days, and I could tell a difference in the landscape on the return drive, as the trees hurried to push out their new blossoms or leaves, or push off the old ones, depending on the species. Spring was in a hurry to come. Very nicely done.

  2. This is wonderful–I, too, feel that sense of urgency in spring (I don’t like summer’s scorch…it gets on my nerves 🙂 ).
