Tree Spirit

Eyes shut, she speaks to me,
limbs shivering in the cold,
rustles a forgotten melody.

Like a sapling, soul responds,
trembles with anticipation,
reaches for ancient blessing.

Permission to write, paint, and imagine are the gifts I gave myself when chronic illness hit - a fair exchange: being for doing. Relevance is an attitude. Humour essential.

  1. “Trembling with anticipation… for an ancient blessing” I love this, V.J.

Just yesterday I read an article titled Hermann Hesse on What Trees Teach Us About Belonging and Life (https://www.brainpickings.org/2012/09/21/hermann-hesse-trees/ ). I had recently read his Siddhartha and remember this theme of trees in this work.

It’s lovely that you can hear when trees speak to you – no small talk there, just messages sprinkled with wisdom.
