Wrap me a slice
of utopia – parcel
it carefully, maybe
double-wrapped.
Just glide it across
the counter, let me
tuck it in my coat,
glide out of here –
can barely repress
my excitement,
this thrill, must hurry
on home now –
find a quiet corner,
unwrap and inhale.
(Written for dVerse’s poetics with the focus on utopia. A nod also to Fandango’s prompt, repress, Ragtag Community’s, parcel , and Daily Addictions, glide.)
Sounds exciting! Can it be eaten? 🙂

Thanks – pizza it is, if that’s your idea of utopia.

ah… I imagine freshly baked goodies – both warm and comforting.
What I like this piece is the reader gets to imagine what it is that makes him/her happy and blissful.

Glad it worked for you Imelda – we all have our own ideas of what that comfort is.

They should call it me-topia — the halcyon image of my blissful self, reflected in the Lamia’s pool. Surely its why many prefer masturbation to bashing actual bodies against each other …

Happy and ingenuous – made me smile, love the concept of enough embedded (for me) in the imagery.

Oh this is nice. Sometimes just a small slice is all we need. Just a moment, and then we are okay.

I left it open for reader interpretation – does this tell me where your mind is, lol. Could very well be now that it’s legal here in Canada.

if the demand could meet the supply? LOL – talk about such a worldwide “brouhaha!” … 😉
I like the “vagueness” here, purposefully leaving it open to the reader allows for just imagination to run wild! And the use of “glide” repeatedly adds this delicious sense of “covertness” – and does imply something tangibly “illicit” … and why not? Sometimes, one’s personal slice of heaven is meant to be selfishly treasured, for it has been hard earned and won.
This is a fun and fabulous piece VJ 😀

Ah….that we could walk into a bakery, smell the sween scent of fresh cinnamon rolls, and order instead a slice of utopia!
That scent…plus a slice of utopia……just add a strong cup of coffee and I shall imbibe the sublime! 🙂

couldn’t you just curl it up with and the rest be da**ed!

Interesting how you made Utopia into a coveted drug, like “they” did with ecstasy. You don’t have to define it or spell it out to anyone or justify why you desire it, ‘just gimme some!’ Clever, V.J.
