I follow sites like Poets & Writers, and Submittable – they usually announce different contests. I also get ideas from other bloggers who announce where they’ve been published. Here’s a new short story contest now open: https://godoggocafe.com/2018/11/02/calling-all-writers-the-sudden-denouement-short-story-contest-is-now-open-for-submissions/

VJ – fantastic! Love the details (sister’s boyfriend’s lashes!) and the mix of spoken and thought. Congrats!

well done, …once I started, I had to finish it…I like the way what the seven year old does not see is implied, but not stated.

I loved your story. I was with you from the beginning and through all the suspense and the misery. Your twists and turns were unexpected and delightful. I was relieved to find a happy (or at least you got dinner) ending. A first place (publishable) story well earned.

It is, everything is momentuous, and most often can be resolved with a few words of reassurance and a hug.
