Mother
to a child – barely
able to tie shoes
watching,
listening,
ever-present
through fields,
trees, at
water’s edge
provided shelter,
grounding –
whispered cautions
child grew,
left her side –
pursued dreams
until life
overwhelming –
an adult returns
“Mother?” she cries.
“Here,” Earth responds.
(It’s quadrille night at dVerse, and Kim is hosting with the prompt earth.)
I love the magic of these words. They remind me so much of mother.

i so resonate with returning to Mother Earth, as frustrated and disillusioned adults

Back to our roots…it’s a cycle really, isn’t it?

maybe it’s a thing with age, as i get older my consciousness heightens or maybe because we let go of more burdens. but yes it is a cycle and hopefully one we keep constant to nurture not destroy

I think we look back with gained wisdom. Healing is the hope.

A mother is always ready to answer the child’s cry. I love the metaphors.

Your quadrille is quietly true and beautiful, V.J. A mother speaking to a mother – always there.

Love this. If only we all remembered that earth is our mother and not to be taken for granted.
