Mitochondria,
research says,
holds the key
to this malaise –
DNA failing to generate
required energy
I push against
facts, strive
to hoist
this stricken body
from the tedious mire –
fail,
plunge,
succumb
await renewal
of momentum,
push again
a hopeless cycle.
(Penned for DVerse’s Quadrille #59, prompt: cycle. Thank you to kim881 for hosting.)
The dread of being caught in DNA like that… so many dark secrets there.

Sorry you have to deal with that. You’re probably much stronger than you know for having to do so.

The mire is “tedious”. Nice use of that word.

Thank you for your encouragement. This disease is relentless and can go one way or the other, unfortunately.

As we get older, sadly the cycle of health does slow us down, but debilitating illnesses seem to have their own speed, stop-and-go. Keep pushing, there’s always hope, especially with a grandchild (mine will soon be four months old and I’m determined to keep going for him). 🙂

Ugh. Yes. There are answers but those damn docs think so rigidly.

I’m right there with you, though for other reasons. I don’t think either one of us knows the meaning of defeat ❤
